which do you think is safer: a physical document or a digital document?

on the one hand a physical document is vulnerable to loss, or damage, or fire. it can be crumpled up or lost or burnt or dissolved.

on the other a digital document is at the whims of whatever corporation is hosting it at the moment. even something on a physical disk is vulnerable to electrical failure or obsolescence.  a plug can stop working, and the documents still on there, but you'll never be able to access it, and you can try and fix it, but you risk destroying it for good, so is it better to just leave it there in peace?
